Hip Hip Hooray!
Finally on the 13th August, David felt comfortable enough for us to move on, so after some provisioning, we left Neopolis and its never ending ferries and headed back to the west coast of Elafonisos to shelter from the westerly winds that were forecast.
We had an early and peaceful night on anchor and then set off early the following day to cross over to the middle of the three fingers that make up the Peloponnese, our intention being to drop anchor in a bay called Porto Kagio and stay put for a couple more days for David to rest some more. However due to the wind direction it was easier on old bones and Seclusion to head further up that finger to a place call Gytheio.
Along the way we had a surprise visitor.. although given he was larger than our yacht, we kept a safe distance from him… as you can see from the photo taken with a powerful zoom lens!
Please also note the lovely calm waters. HAHAHA! Not set to last, as for the last 8 miles we hit katabatics of 35 knots, again! Definitely not what the doctor ordered, but we could see it coming (not because of any godly powers as Jane said once, but because of the effect on the water!), so at least we were able to keep some of the strain off David by setting up the reefs in the sails beforehand.
Still we were mighty relieved to drop anchor 2 hours later in a bay outside the port… we certainly weren’t going to try to drop the dinghy and go stern too to more in those winds…and get some much needed respite from them!

It was a surprisingly peaceful night and thankfully David wasn’t suffering too much from his unintended exertions.
