Bonifacio, Corsica

We are hiding out from the winds again!

The Boys went off into town and David and I stayed on the boat for a couple of hours doing some jobs, and ordering a new part from the UK as we broke a crucial part of the rigging of the main sail in the winds coming across from the Madellena Islands. Whilst waiting for confirmation that this was on its way to us, I decided to fill the water tanks! A normal job one would think but the connections here are a bit different to what we are used to and so I ended up showering not only the decks but, as the main hatch was open, the inside of the boat and me too, much to my hysterics (laughing) !!!, Still, now I know the floors are clean!

David and I then hiked up to the old town, explored and stopped off for the traditional moules & frites, of course washed down with a Carafe of wine! The town is so quaint…

Views of the Cliffs, it is wonder it doesnt crumble into the sea.

The tiny streets and life in the Old Town

The Port

The boys then went out for a couple of beers in the evening to watch the football and all I will say is that the Brazilian defence must have been on drugs last night !!

But there is only so much you can do in Bonafacio, so we thought we needed to have a day out somewhere, so jet-ski trips and boat trips are somewhat off the agenda for the next couple of days, due to the continuous high winds and even higher waves, so hiring a car for the day seemed like a good choice, but because all the yachties are in the same situation as us, ie; stranded, everyone clearly had the same idea and they are as rare as rocking horse dung, but we struck it lucky and this morning we are all off for a day around Corsica, in a Renault Kangoo, which even although it doesn’t sound very glamorous, is far better than the previous option of a Renault Twingo, especially when I look at the size of the two lads that would have to have got into the back of it !  So we will probably head off across to Ajaccio today and will update you next.

Sorry about the Mistral, when does MW say it will die down – usually gets to Nice in August, from where I know not, so hide away until you are sure.

The kitchen is now in and very nice, lawn transformed the site and am congratulated on the property being very classy – did anyone expect anything less?! Am a little disappointed with the fireplace, but succumbed t everyone’s input…. choosing mirrors today, nearly finished spending money I do not have!

Edward is still doing very well, his house is on the market against my advice, no bites as yet, off on his hols with the family on Saturday to Majorca. Still very warm for us here although raining today which was ordered for my lawn!

Take care, enjoy although I think you could be a little tired, you will need total rest when you return. Any lettings on your house?
    Love you
